2015 Focus on Conservation Photography Contest Information and Entry Form

Submit your favorite photographs taken in or within view of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve to the 2015 Photography Contest and help to create an even more unique and vibrant Sonoran Desert experience for the community.  In 2015, our website gallery will feature the winning photographs of the contest, with the winning entries organized in the category in which they were taken.

The  deadline for entries is 5 p.m. May 31, 2015. Judges will choose photos whose overall impact best captures the McDowell Sonoran Preserve as a natural treasure according to each season’s designated theme.  Prizes will be awarded for the top three photos.

Prints should be mailed or delivered to the Conservancy office by May 31, 2015.  To ensure eligibility for the contest, all entries must provide a digital file that has a resolution of 1 megapixel or greater.  Images that do not meet this standard can still be judged, but might not be honored in the competition (at the judge's sole discretion) if the photographer is unable to provide the proper resolution when asked.

Submissions may not be watermarked.

The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy reserves the right to all photos submitted to the photo contest for use in print, digital, internet, email or any format to promote the Conservancy.  Photo credit will be provided for each image use.

Photographs must be taken in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve or in the area yet to be acquired within the Preserve boundary according to the four categories: Plants and/or Animals, People, Biodiversity, and Landscapes. Photographers must follow the Preserve Ordinance including staying on designated trails, not disturbing plants, animals, archaeological sites and visiting between sunrise and sunset. Photos that obviously necessitated breaking the Ordinance will be disqualified. The Ordinance can be found by clicking here.
