Animals of the Preserve The McDowell Sonoran Preserve consists of mountains, Sonoran Desert and natural wildlife corridors linking open space with the Tonto National Forest and the Maricopa County Regional Park. This creates a sustainable natural desert habitat for wildlife. Wildlife viewing and bird watching are passive recreational uses approved for the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Below is a list of the species you may encounter while in the Preserve. Please remember is it prohibited to feed, harass, or collect any species in the Preserve. We are currently developing fact sheets (profiles) for each of the animals listed here. As each profile is completed, it will be linked to the animal's name in the list below. This is a big undertaking and we could use your help. If you are interested in participating in this project, click on the is link to learn more. Animal Profile Project |
