MSC Departments

For the past sixteen years, the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy has been diligently working to make sure that current and future generations can enjoy pristine areas of the Sonoran Desert, including its bajadas and mountains.

From an initial group of five people meeting around a kitchen table in the early 1990's, the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy has grown into a dynamic organization of more than 200 trained volunteer Stewards. In 2007, MSC stewards spent more than 18,000 hours working in and for the McDowell Sonoran Preserve building and maintaining trails, patrolling the Preserve, leading and directing hikers in the Preserve, and educating the public on the benefits of a sustainable community.
