CONSERVANCY WOMEN

Conservancy Women is a friend-raising and fund-raising group of like-minded women interested in learning more about the desert and sharing that interest and knowledge with others. For an annual donation of $200 or more to the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, participants have opportunities for learning, giving back, having fun, and making new friends with Conservancy Women.

These experiences include Women of the West book club, Movie Madness discussion group, regularly scheduled hikes and special events including classes and special demonstrations, visits to nature-based organizations, private tours of attractions such as museums and art galleries, and luncheons. Our advisory committee is working to develop a wide range of educational and fun activities appealing to our members.

To officially join Conservancy Women and start participating in the incredible activities being planned, you'll need to complete just two steps!

Conservancy Women's Activities

These 3-5 mile hikes will take place throughout the Preserve.  These group hikes are for exercise and socialization, as you explore the Preserve.  If you are interested in hiking with Conservancy Women 1 or 2 times monthly, please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.

  • These Preserve hikes will be shorter (no more than 3 miles) and at a slower pace, a great way to meet and talk with other Conservancy Women.  These hikes, too, will be once or twice each month.  To receive more information and to sign up for this group,  please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.

These hikes are for those who want to hike with a canine companion and Conservancy Women in the Preserve.  To add your name to the list and to receive hike notifications,  please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.

This group is ready to ride . . . the members get to decide where!  Janice Batt has agreed to get the group organized.  If you want to join and learn more, please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.

There are so many birds in the Preserve - it may be time for you to learn more about them.  Pat Minden will lead you on short bird walks to learn how to see and identify our fine feathered friends.  To get on the list and for more information,  please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.

There are currently at least two spaces left in this club that meets monthly to talk about books about or written by women who live west of the Mississippi River.  The books are in all genres - historical and contemporary, fantasy and biography;  if there is a woman character or author who lives in the west, we could very likely read it.  To be added to the list for this book club,  please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.

Conservancy Women will see a movie, and then meet to talk about it.  The discussions will be monthly at a location to be determined.  To learn more, and to sign up on the list, please email Conservancy Women at conservancywomen@mcdowellsonoran.org.
